Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has awarded Sh. Milandhoo Harbour Upgrading Project to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

At a ceremony held at the Planning Ministry, the agreement was signed by Director General of the Ministry Fathimath Shaana Faarooq, and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim signed the agreement on behalf of the company. The ceremony was also attended by Minister of State Akram Kamaluddeen and constituency parliamentarian Ali Riza.

Under the project to upgrade Milandhoo Harbour MTCC has to dredge 17900 cubic meter of existing harbour basin, 70400 cubic meter new harbour basin, channel dredging operations of 8400 cubic meter, construction of a 583 meter breakwater, a 93 meter revetment, a 15 meter groyne, and a 311 meter quay wall. In addition, installation of mooring buoys, installation of harbour lights, installation of street lights, paving of 3789 square meter harbour pavement, construction of 2 concrete bridges, construction of a ramp and access platform. 

The MVR 79.94 million project was awarded to the company to be completed within 600 days.

MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports, land reclamation, shore protection, and harbours.
