Sh. Milandhoo Council has announced they are looking for a contractor to design a Monument which represent the island.
According to the announcement by the council, interested parties are requested to submit their proposals to the council before 1400hrs of December 31.
Milandhoo Council President Abdulla Athif stated that the project has now been opened for design and the work will begin next year. It will be included in the upcoming budget. Moreover, he noted that they want monument to be a special monument for the island, which will reflect the ‘Koadi’ played in the island during Eid and the construction work done by many in the island.
Furthermore, he stated that a reward of MVR 15,000 will be given to the winning design from proposed designs and a special committee would evaluate the proposed designs. In addition, he noted that there are designers who do similar designs among the youth of the island and council have consulted them as well. And youths students also expressed their willingness to participate.
