Ha. Dhidhdhoo Council has urged residents to keep their non-residential houses/land plots given for residential purposes clean as they are not being maintained as per the rules and regulations.
The council has given a month’s time from November 24 to clean the premises.
The council further stated that the plots allotted to the residents of Dhidhdhoo have been handed over on condition that they comply with the rules laid down by the government. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the owners of these non-residential houses/plots to keep the premises and roads adjacent to premises clean.
Moreover, the council noted that it has always been receiving complaints that such encroachments are causing inconvenience to the people living in these areas, both in terms of public health and other forms.
In addition, the Council stated that the island has been widely recognised as a clean island compared to other inhabited islands in the Maldives, and that it is a matter of utmost priority for the island’s residents as well as the council to continue to do so.
