The Maldives also received several other awards at the WTA this evening. MMPRC received the Leading Tourism Board Award. Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) received the World Leading Seaplane Operator Award.

After Maldives was nominated for the World Leading Destination Award, MMPRC stated in a statement earlier that despite the hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is certain that the Maldives has won this title in the last two years due to the hard work and service of all the stakeholders in the Maldives tourism industry.

In addition, according to MMPRC, as this year is the Golden Jubilee year of tourism, winning the award for the third time will further strengthen the Maldives reputation as a popular tourist destination.

The WTA awards are one of the most prestigious awards in world tourism as well as in the transportation industry.
