Defense Minister Uz. Mariya Ahmed Didi has stated that the history of the Maldives is a testimony to the fact that several local heroes are from Bodu Thiladhunmathi.
Defense Minister made the statement while speaking on the event held at Kulhudhuffushi City on theoccasion of Victory Day. Moreover, Minister Mariya noted that local hero Hussain Adam from Kulhudhuffushi City played an important role in getting the Victory for the country over the attack on the nation on November 3, 1988.
Hussain Adam was a soldier who is determined to serve as a full-fledged soldier. The November 3 incident is the worst incident in the country in recent times, Mariya added. Even now country’s security continues to face many challenges today, Mariya stated the government is committed to developing the armed forces and acquiring state-of-the-art equipment and weapons. She also urged the youth to join the army and serve the country.
Kulhudhuffushi City Mayor and council members participated in the evening held to celebrate Victory Day. A large number of civilians also went to witness the parade and celebrations organized by the army in the city.
