Haa Dhaalu Atoll Quran Competition 2022 has commenced.
Atoll Quran Competition organized by the Atoll Council is being held at the HDh. Nolhivaram this year. According to Atoll Council islands participating in the competition are Makunudhoo, Vaikaradhoo, Nolhivaram, Nellaidhoo, Neykurendhoo, Kumundhoo, Nolhivaranfaru, Kurinbi, Hirimaradhoo, Naifadhoo, Finey and Hanimaadhoo.
This year’s competition will be held from October 6 to 8, 2022. A total of 130 students from 12 islands will compete in this year’s competition. They are 35 students in the memorized category and 95 students in the non-memorized category.
Moreover, this year’s competition is divided into six age groups, from memorized category and non-memorized category. They are under the age of 6, under the age of 9, under the age of 12, under the age of 15, under the age of 18 and above the age of 18.
The competition is held annually by the Atoll Council with the aim of to inculcate love for reciting the Holy Quran in the hearts of thepeople of the atoll and reviving the art of reciting the Quran. However, the competition was not held last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The last Atoll Quran competition was held in HDh. Nellaidhoo, from April 18 to 20, 2019. A total of 132 participants from 11 islands of the atoll competed in the competition. HDh. Nolhivaram won first place in the tournament.
