Haa Dhaalu Atoll Council has revealed the details of 12 islands that participated in the Atoll Quran Competition.
According to the Atoll Council, islands participating in the competition are Makunudhoo, Vaikaradhoo, Nolhivaram, Nellaidhoo, Neykurendhoo, Kumundhoo, Nolhivaranfaru, Kurinbi, Hirimaradhoo, Naifadhoo, Finey and Hanimaadhoo.
This year’s competition is scheduled to be held in Nolhivaram from 6th to 8th of this month. Nolhivaram Council and the people are currently working together to prepare the island for the competition.
Moreover, as the Kulhudhuffushi City name is not on the list several people in the social media has been criticizing Kulhudhuffushi City. Therefore, the Mayor of Kulhudhuffushi City Mohamed Athif has revealed the reason stating that schools in Kulhudhuffushi City do not have to compete in the atoll competition to reach the national competition since kulhudhuffushi is a city and that the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has provided the opportunity for three schools in the city to compete directly in the national competition as requested by the city council last year.
A total of 130 students from 12 islands will compete in this year’s competition. They are 35 students in the memorized category and 95 students in the non-memorized category.
