Raajje Transport Link (RTL) services as part of the Integrated National Public Ferry Network has officially commenced in Zone 1 Haa Alifu Atoll.
The ferry services in Haa Alifu Atoll commenced at Thuraakunu today. According to MTCC charges for the services will be free till end of the month. Through the ferry network all the islands in the Haa Alifu Atoll and Ha Dhaalu Atoll will be connected. Moreover, RTL services will commence in Shaviyani Atoll before the end of next month.
Newly built ferry Launches were delivered to Haa Alif Atoll yesterday. These ferry’s used in the service have a capacity of 50 people. And the ferries used in this service are designed to ensure the safety and security of passengers. Also it is built in a way which can be used by disabled people easily.
Furthermore, RTL’s passenger ferry is connected in three different ways. They are commute links, non-commute links and highway links. The commute link is for short trips connecting nearby islands. The non-commute link is to travel from one island to another. The highway link connects the transport hub of one region and the transport hub of the other.
In addition, a special application has been launched to purchase tickets for the RTL’s services. Also, tickets can be purchased through RTL’s web portal.
The ferry’s do not charge for children under the age of three, and people with disabilities can also travel free of charge. And one child under the age of 3 can travel with each passenger.
