Agricultural exhibition held by the Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture for three northern atolls of the Maldives in HDh. Hanimaadhoo under the Maldives Agri Business Programme has been concluded.

According to the Ministry, Farmers from 20 islands of Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu, and Shaviyani atoll took part in the exhibition. From each island three farmers participated the exhibition. Various sessions were also held at the exhibition by Hanimaadhoo Agriculture Centre, agricultural vendors and buyers of agricultural products to provide information.

According to the Maldives Agri Business Project, this is the first regional exhibition held by them. The exhibition provided an opportunity for farmers to showcase their produce, while providing information to farmers on how to cultivate using environmentally friendly methods.

Moreover, a stall were given to each island for the exhibition, the stalls are used to showcase the agricultural products sold in the islands. The exhibition was also participated by agricultural stakeholders, suppliers, resorts who buy agricultural products and other farmers.

Furthermore, Ministry stated that the purpose of the exhibition was to provide business opportunities and markets for Maldivian farmers and they hope the exhibition will strengthen the relations with suppliers. Also, the one-day exhibition will enable resorts to identify the quality they want when purchasing goods.
