A training programme to familiarize the employees of the courts in Thiladhunmathi on Civil Procedure Code (Act No: 32/2021) has commenced in Kulhudhuffushi City.

According to the Department of Judicial Administration, eight magistrates and 38 employees from Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu and Shaviyani Atolls are taking part in the programme, which began in Kulhudhuffushi City yesterday.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the programme, Chief Justice Ahmed Muthasim Adnan stated that once the Civil Procedure Code is implemented, it is important that courts to arrange and facilitate easy access to justice for the public.

The programme, which began in Kulhudhuffushi City yesterday, is the seventh training programme organized by the Judicial Academy to familiarize with the Civil Procedure Code. The programme will conclude on June 20, 2022.

The Civil Procedure Act, ratified on 16th December 2021, came into effect on June 16, 2022. Judicial Academy has stated that with the enactment of the Civil Procedure Code, a series of training programmes will be conducted across the country to familiarize judges and court staff with the Act.

Therefore, a training programme on the Act will be held in the southern part of the country after concluding the programme in the northern atolls.

The Civil Procedure Code encompasses the rules relating to pre-trial procedures, proceedings at trial, general rules of evidence applicable to civil cases, judgments, orders, and enforcement of judgments in civil proceedings.
