Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated that construction of a causeway between GDh. Faresmaathoda Airport and the island has commenced.

The causeway project and Faresmaathoda Airport Development project was awarded to MTCC. Under the project an area of 19,200 square meters will be reclaimed for the causeway project, while a revetment of 120 meters will be carried out to protect the reclaimed area. And causeway will be constructed in a way water can freely move below the causeway. Also it will be linked to to the main roads of the airport. Total 4,456.87 square meters of road will be constructed under the project.

The project is worth MVR 44.2 million.

Faresmaathoda Airport Development project was awarded to MTCC for MVR 144.8 million on November 10, 2020. Under the project, subgrade and subbase of 1200 meter runway, a taxiway, an apron, a fire pad and a fire road will be established. In addition, construction of a fire building and terminal building will be carried out.
