Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated that the project site has been mobilized on May 20, 2022, to begin R. Maakurathu Harbour Development Project.

Under the project to develop Maakurathu Harbour MTCC has to dredge 45024 cubic meter new harbour basin, construction of 140 meter breakwater, 28 meter groyne, 85 meter revetment, and a 129 meter quay wall. In addition, installation of 641 square meter harbour pavement.

The value of the project is MVR 26.67 million.

MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports, land reclamation, shore protection, and harbours.
