Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has awarded AA. Ukulhas Harbour Upgrading Project to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
At a ceremony held at the Planning Ministry, the agreement was signed by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed, and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim signed the agreement on behalf of the company.
Under the project to upgrade AA. Ukulhas Harbour MTCC has to dredge 4954 meter harbour basin, construction of a 5 meter breakwater, a 553 meter revetment, a 264 meter quay wall, a connectivity bridge and a concrete jetty. In addition, installation of harbour lights, installation street lights, and installation of 1640 square meter harbor pavement. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) also will be conducted as it is part of the project scope.
The value of the project is MVR 37,282,051.06 million and the project is awarded to be completed within 365 days.
MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports, land reclamation, shore protection, and harbours.
