Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has awarded Th. Vilufushi Coastal Protection Project to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
At a ceremony held at the Planning Ministry, the agreement was signed by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed, and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim signed the agreement on behalf of the company.
Under the project to protect the coastal area of Th. Vilufushi includes dredging operations of 3,047 cubic meter, dredging operations of the swimming area up to 1,869 meter, construction of a 135 meter groyne, construction of a 184 meter revetment and installation of barrier floats along the periphery of swimming area. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) will be conducted as it is part of the project scope.
The project worth MVR 11,192,295.14 million was awarded to MTCC to be completed in 130 days.
In the past three years, MTCC has completed several harbour construction, land reclamation and beach protection projects.
