The Integrated National Ferry Network designed to connect the Maldives with high-speed ferry system has commenced today in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
Under the first phase of the Raajje Transport Link (RTL), ferry’s were commenced to islands in Haa Dhaalu Atoll from zone 1 atolls. According to MTCC, operations were started in five routes to 13 Island of Haa Dhaalu Atoll from this afternoon onwards. Operations were started with Four ferry’s with a capacity of 50 passengers.
Moreover. MTCC stated that the government and the company also believe that it is important for the public to be aware of this as this is a new service. Therefore, it has also been decided to provide service free of charge for the sector till May 10, 2022.
However, from May 11, 2022 onwards tickets will be sold via designated website or mobile application. Tickets can be obtained via mv.rtl.app://https or https://rtl.mv. MTCC further stated that familiarizing with the application and website will make it easier to access the service.
The modern ferries are designed in a comfortable way for the travelers. Each seat in the Air conditioned ferry is equipped with a USB port to charge passengers’ phones. Also, toilets and an area for luggage allocated in the ferry. In addition, passengers can carry carry-on luggage with them as well.
Under the first phase of the Integrated National Ferry Network, service to 41 Islands from Haa Alif, Haa Dhaalu, and Shaviyani Atoll will be provided. In near future other atolls will be included in the Network.
