Sh. Feydhoo Council has launched a door-to-door event to assess the situation of people with special needs living in the Island.
According to the Feydhoo Council President Ahmed Raisham, this is an event initiated as part of the responsibilities assigned to local councils under the 8th Amendment to the Decentralization Act. As per the act, the councils must identify the situation of people with special needs living in the island every four months, inquire about their concerns, and work towards resolving their concerns with the relevant authorities, so we will also conduct the event every four months Raisham added.
Moreover, Raisham stated that the door-to-door event, which began last Thursday, will be concluded today. Further he stated that a after concluding the event a report will made including the concerns of people with special needs residing in the and submitted to the Gender Ministry.
In addition, more than 20 people are currently registered in the list of people with special needs in the island therefore council will work to address their concerns according to Raisham.
