Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has launched the “Hunavaru Bus Driver Training Program” on the occasion of International Women’s Day. 

The ceremony held at the Maafannu Bus Terminal to launch the program was attended by Chief Operating Officer Shahid Hussain Moosa, senior officials and employees of the company.

Speaking at the ceremony held to mark International Women’s Day, Shahid stated that the company’s policy is to establish gender equality and that certain tasks are to be eliminated as men’s work alone. Moreover, he stated a female bus driver and a female bus attendants are active in the company under Hunavaru program opened in the first quarter of this year.

Furthermore, MTCC has opened up opportunities through the Hunavaru Apprenticeship Program to train employees for technical jobs that are not commonly available in the Maldivian job market, and giving priority to women is part of its efforts to empower women and provide equal opportunities in the society. 

Also, according to MTCC, interested individuals can apply for the Hunavaru Bus Driver Training Program through the company’s website.

In addition, MTCC stated that all necessary efforts will be made to expand the role of women in all sectors and promote women in all fields.
