The first test flight has been operated to the airport developed in Lh. Madivaru.
The test flight of the National airline, Maldivian, took place at approximately 0950hrs on December 25, 2021. The technical team which inspected the airport prior to the test flight travelled to Madivaru in the first flight.
The ceremony held to welcome the test flight was attended by Managing Director of Kuredu Holdings and Chairman of Champa Brothers Mohamed Moosa (Uchu), Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof, members of the Parliament and senior government officials. The airport was developed by Kuredu Holdings.
Madivaru Airport has developed with a 1200 meter runway, apron, fire building and a modern terminal. The final work required to bring the operation to the airport is currently underway.
The airport is the first airport developed in Lhaviyani Atoll. The atoll has many resorts and was in need of an airport. Therefore, with the establishment of an airport in the atoll, it will be easier for the people of the atoll to travel and tourists to travel to the resorts in the atoll.
