Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital (KRH) has introduced Thalassemia DNA testing services.

The hospital began operations in collaboration with the Society for Health Education (SHE).According to KRH, appointments for the test will be made through the hospital’s website http://krh.gov.mv And in addition to the form required to be submitted from the website, additional information regarding the test will be available on the website.

Moreover, according to the Manager of KRH Ahmed Dawood, with the introduction of the services amount of money families have to spend for doing the test can be reduced as currently minimum MVR 10000 is spend on average per family to do the test and for the process.

Furthermore, Dawood stated that efforts are underway to make arrangements for the tests that cannot be conducted by the laboratory of KRH to be carried out through the hospital in collaboration with another laboratory and that is expected to be successful in the first quarter of next year.

In addition, the hospital has also commenced providing MRI services, CT scan and speech therapy services. And they have started Cardiac Center Operations recently at KRH. And the project to build a tertiary hospital in Kulhudhuffushi is currently underway
