The Planning Ministry has stated that the First Ferry built as part of the Integrated National Ferry Network by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is nearly finished.

According to a tweet from the Planning Ministry, the first ferry’s engine, fuel tank, and water tank are currently being installed. In the case of the second ferry, work on the connection of Hull, inside fittings, and roof will begin soon.

MTCC has signed a contract with GulfCraft to build the first 14 ferries as part of the project’s first phase.

Under the first phase of the Integrated National Ferry Network, service to 41 Islands from Haa Alif, Haa Dhaalu, and Shaviyani Atoll will be provided. In near future other atolls will be included in the Network. 

Speed Boats will be utilized for the Integrated National Ferry Network operation. The elderly and people with disabilities can conveniently use these vessels.
