The Maldives Meteorological Services (Met Office) has alerted about imminent extreme weather warning for the most of the country for the next 24 hours, asking sailors to take extreme caution when traveling.
According to the Met Office, the country is now experiencing severe weather as a result of a low-pressure trough that has formed in the area.

Also stated that 24-hour spell of bad weather – with widespread rain and thunderstorms. surface wind will be from west/northwesterly at 10 – 20 miles per hour in central and northern atolls. Southwest/westerly at 05 – 13 miles per hour in southern atolls. Winds may gust to 45 miles per hour during showers.
