H.Dh Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital (KRH) has successfully removed a cyst found in the ovary of a pregnant woman.
As informed to us by Dr. Mohamed Faisal, a pediatrician at KRH, when the woman came to KRH to give birth, existence of a cyst was acknowledged but as of its size not much was known. Only after scanning it was found a large cyst at the left ovary.
After an operation of two hours, a cyst weighing 2.4 kg, 24 cm in length and 20 cm in width was successfully removed. The operation was carried out by gynecologist, Dr. Luthufee Baasha. The patient was given three pints of blood and was released shortly after.
This is an achievement that will go down in history. Other smaller cyst removal surgeries have been successful, but not at a scale this large. After the two hospitals in Male’ City, KRH has been preforming best throughout Maldives. It is acknowledgeable that KRH has won the hearts and respect of many.
