Local government authority(LGA) has said ,due to the preventive measures taken to control covid-19, the newly elected councilors will be taking oath online.
In a press conference held by HEOC, the director general of LGA, Adam Shareef said even though the spread of covid-19 has dramatically increased, there will be no change in the date of oath taking ceremony.
The decision is made as the present councilors have already completed their term long before and some councilors have resigned as well.
The oath taking ceremony will be on 17th May 2021, at the same time in all the islands. Unlike previous years, locals cannot take part in the ceremony.
