Futsal Tournament Aimed at Local Fishermen Organized in HA. Ihavandhoo

A special futsal tournament targeted for the island’s fisherman has been organized by the Polestar Club of HA. Ihavandhoo.

The aim of the tournament is to create a sense of community among the fishermen of the island, to produce local football talent from the island and also to increase health awareness among the local fishermen.

The only eligible teams in the tournaments are registered fishing vessels belonging to the island, and all participants for the vessels had to have gone fishing for a minimum duration of 5 weeks on the vessel.

Cash prizes have been allocated to the Champion, Runner-up and Fair-play teams of the tournament. Furthermore, Man of the match will to be selected for every match, and a Player of the Tournament will also be selected at the end of the tournament.

A total of 7 vessels have registered to participate in the tournament. This is the first ever football tournament organized specifically targeted towards fishermen in the island.
