Inauguration for the developing ice plant in HA.Hoarafushi was laid last night.
The ceremony was held in Hoarafushi harbor area. The foundation stone was laid by the CEO of Mifco, Ismail Fauzy, and by the fishermen of Hoarafushi.
While the CEO of Mifco, Hoarafushi council, the fishermen of the island took part in the ceremony, Fisheries Minister Zaha Waheedh also participated virtually and spoke. Hoarafushi constitution member Ahmed Saleem (salle) also took part virtually and spoke.
It has been agreed that the ice plant’s land fee will be given to the council, as well as 20% of the profits from the ice plant. Also more job opportunities will be created as a result of the ice plant, and fishermen who use the Hoarafushi harbor will benefit greatly.
The agreement for the development of the ice plant in Hoarafushi was approved and signed this year 27th of January. This project was decided to be completed by Public Private Partnership Model and the project will be financed by Champa Brothers.
Mifco will build and develop the ice plant, estimating that the 4.2 million Rufiyaa project will be completed in 150 days.
