Sh. Feydhoo Futsal Ground officially opened on 6th February 2021, Saturday.
Secretariat of the North Miladhunmadulu Feydhoo Council President Mr. Mohamed Samir officially opened Feydhoo futsal ground and he was accompanied by Mr. Ibrahim Shahid, Secretariat of the North Miladhunmadulu Goidhoo Council president.
A grand opening ceremony was held on Saturday along with friendly futsal match between Feydhoo and Goidhoo. Goidhoo won against Feydhoo with 8-1 score.
According to the Feydhoo Council President, this has been a long awaited dream for the island’s youth community.
“Initially, on previous government policies, MRDC (Maldives Road Development Corporation Limited) began work on the futsal ground, with only concrete floor in the field. the FAM (Football Association of Maldives) team then visited the island, but the work on the playground ended and did not resume. It restarted again after one year by this government and completed futsal ground work and today is the day we begin playing on this ground.” By Mr. Mohamed Samir.
As Council president Samir said, they originally intended to hold an inauguration in the presence of Minister of Sports, Mr. Ahmed Mahloof, but it was not possible due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Samir also said that the government fulfilled the Feydhoo youths’ dream and thanked Parliament Member Abdulla Shaheem for making a colorful dream come true. Also he thanked Feydhoo youth community for their extraordinary support in completing the futsal ground. Contractor of the project was Triple Eight Company Pvt Ltd.
