Sh. Atoll Hospital completes a successful thyroid operation

Sh. Atoll hospital has successfully completed a thyroid operation in the hospital.

A post posted in their Facebook page states that they have successfully completed the operation yesterday.

The patient who got operated was suspected for a thyroid problem after getting recurrent miscarriages and she was a 25 years old. After the Obstetrician present suspected for hormonals change, she was tested for other possibilities diagnosing Hyperthyroidism. She was later referred to the surgeon present in the hospital.

After the consultation of the surgeon present, the patients thyroid was swollen and she had difficulties in breathing as well. She was kept under medication for 1.5 months to see any progress, but by the end of the period, she was not showing and progress with the symptoms. Thus the hospital and the team decided to operate on the patient.

The operation was successful and the patients whole thyroid was removed. (Thyroidectomy).

After the completion of the operation, the hospital stated that this operation is a rare operation done specially in the atolls and the hospital is proud of their team and thanked them.
