Free aid that are being provided by Indian government to the Maldives regarding the to be developed bridge in greater Male’ region was signed today between the two countries.

The MOU was signed today and India has agreed to give a free aid of 100 Million Dollars to build the bridge between Male’- Villimale’ – Thilafushi – Gulhifalhu.

Foreign ministry has stated that this would be the biggest development project that Maldives has ever seen. Greater Male’ connectivity project will ensure the connection between the above mentioned islands along with a 6.7 kilometer long bridge with causeways.

Apart from this, another 3 MOUs were signed between the countries today. One such was the MOU signed to have a joint venture between the countries where the Maldivian athletes and coaches will get full trainings from India. Another is the MOU signed to develop a high end agriculture research facility in H.Dh Hanimaadhoo a Drug Detoxification centre in Addu Atoll.

Under this MOU, the Agriculture research facility would receive 1,711,434.60 Ruffiyya and the Drug Detoxification Centre would receive 7,980563.69 Ruffiyya.

Foreign ministry also stated that these projects are to enhance and for the growth of socio economy of the country as well.
