According to the Tourism Minister Dr. Abdullah Mausoom, random samples are to be taken from resorts and tourism facilities in the Maldives very soon.
From a tweet from his official account, Dr.Mausoom has stated that the ministry has decided to take random samples from resorts and tourism facilities in order to be precautious of the COVID-19 situation in the Maldives.
” In order to proceed the tourism sector in the Maldives, we need the sector to be a safe place for everyone” he added.
He was referring to the slowly progressing tourism industry of the Maldives, and in he stated that a deaf ear could not be given and there is no room for carelessness. And the sector should be very safe for everyone.
Minister stated that this on the 6th of November, but there was a death because of COVID-19 in a resort on the 30th of October.
From the Kandima Resort, a staff was taken to Dh.Kudahuvadhoo due to deteriorating health. He belonged to the island Dh. Maaenboodhoo.
He was positive for the disease, and it was confirmed after the sample that was taken from his death.
Up until yesterday, 50 people fro Kandima Resort got positive for the disease.
