MTCC as the airport developing company of the Hoarafushi Airport has stated that they are carrying out the finishing and the last scheduled work of the airport as of now.
MTCC says that the people of Hoarafushi is very supportive of it and with their help, 84% of the airports work has been done now.
The council president of Hoarafushi has given the information Thiladhun that, the example the people of Hoarafushi has been showing during the work of on going development of airport is exceptional.
President of the council Mr. Waheed has said that the people of MTCC has been working around the clock, while the people of the island has been cleaning the airport area. More over, the women of the island has been cooking different warm meals for the workers that have been working tirelessly as well.
The airport is to be opened on the occasion of November 11th and for this a lot of cleaning and celebratory events are to be held in the island. The people of the island are working on that as well.
In order to see the work in progress, the CEO of MTCC Mr. Adam Azim is currently staying in the island as well.
MTCC’s current work rate is, 99% of the runway has been done, 75% of the passenger terminal, 50% of fire brigade. The aim of the company is to finish the whole project by next Sunday.
This airport will be 1.2km big, and in width, 35 meters. More over, the apron side will be 8636 acre-meters and service roads will also be paved after the work is fully done. There will also be a parking space of 9473 acre-meters and a fire access along the service roads. For the airport security, the space of fences would be 720 meters which will also include a beach fence.

The whole project was carried out after dredging a vast area of 842200 acre meters from the Hoarafushi reef. The current government believes that, after commencing the operations of this airport, the local travel between the capital and the north would see a drastic development. The islands near and neighboring Hoarafushi would see the impact instantly and would ease up a lot of things, according to the government.
