Bank of Maldives (BML) announced the completion of a community oriented park in front of the school in Kelaa, Haa Alif Atoll, under its ‘Aharenge Bank Community Fund’.
Opened by Kelaa based NGO Island Development and Environmental Awareness Society (IDEAS), the ‘Kelaa School Fini Park’ comprises of a sheltered sitting tight region for parents and an assigned space for students to park their bicycles.
“With the Community Fund initiative we are working towards supporting communities across the Maldives. The community park project by the NGO IDEAS will benefit parents and children alike and also create awareness among the community for the importance of green spaces. We hope that this project brings joy to the people of Kelaa”, said BML’s Manager of Public Relations Mohamed Saeed.
official from IDEAS stated that, the decision to utilize the trees in front of the school to create a waiting area and parking space were finalised after internal discussions. IDEAS is humbled to have finished the project and for being able to support the community in such a way.

During each quarter of the fiscal year, BML selects and allocates MVR 50,000 to five projects in the areas of education, environment, sports and community development under the Aharenge Bank Community Fund. In 2019, BML contributed MVR 1 million to support projects in 20 islands across Maldives.
