Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital (KRH) has begun conducting COVID-19 tests this Sunday.
The regional hopsital now has a capacity to process 72 samples daily, but is reportedly unable to operate at full capacity until additional staff at the hospital’s lab receives necessary training.
Two lab technicians from the hospital have already undergone three weeks of specialized training at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital along with technicians from Addu Equatorial Hospital, which announced the commencement of COVID-19 testing last month. This makes Thiladhunmathi the second region outside the capital with facilities to test for the novel corona virus.
