An expansion project of the regional hospital in Kulhudhuffushi City has begun in an effort to ease space constraints faced by the hospital.
The project contracted to Maldives Transport and Construction Company (MTCC) includes the construction of a walkway to connect the hospital’s main building, administration building and the gynecological ward, a new 2 story ward with a 30 bed capacity, the renovation of hospital’s OPD area and an upgrade of the hospital laboratory.
Ahmed Daud, Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital’s Health Service Manager talking about the issue of inadequate space at the hospital argued that this expansion would bring a solution to the problem and would significantly improve the hospital’s service offerings and allow them to serve the community better. He also said the plan is to expand even further and ultimately to be a 100 bed tertiary hospital in the future.
The project is priced at MVR 30 million and is slated to be completed within 6 months.
